Family Literacy Child Care / Instructor

Position Description:
Job Title: Family Literacy Child Instructor
Hourly Salary: $9.50 - $11.00
Hours per week: Seasonal Part-time, 10-20 hrs/wk (evenings and Saturdays)
Location: Multiple sites throughout Garden Grove and Santa Ana

Performance Responsibilities:
- Cares for children of parents receiving English language instruction on site
- Provides homework assistance for school-age children
- Conducts English language arts activities for children
- Understands and Implements the GGUSD approved curriculum
- Maintains an orderly and clean area, as well as respects school property
- Performs clerical and housekeeping duties as required
- Performs as a positive role model
- Cooperates and communicates with all staff members
- Assists with program curriculum planning and instruction
- Enforce all BGCGG & GGUSD policies and procedures
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings as necessary.
- Fulfills minimum professional development hours each month- (2 hours)
- Completes required GGUSD para-professional training in accordance with NCLB legislation
- Sees that students and other staff members are recognized with positive reinforcement

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma. Preferably attending college.
- Knowledge of group dynamics and age-appropriate activities for children
- Proven ability to interact with others in a positive manner
- Established skills in communication, both written and verbal
- Valid Photo ID

Skills Preferred:
- Bilingual capabilities a plus (Spanish, Vietnamese or Korean)
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and other software programs
- Business and customer service experience an asset
