General Information
ARCHES (Access to Resources for Children's Health, Education & Support) focuses on child counseling, family support services, and outreach and referral. ARCHES enhances the traditional children's health service delivery model by expanding assessments beyond the physical to ensure the needs of the whole child are met. The ARCHES program works collaboratively with the building partners: Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County (low cost dental) and Children's Hospital of Orange County.
Position Description
Job Title: Bus Driver
Hourly Salary: $11.00-$13.00+ (depending on experience)
Hours per week: Part Time, 20 hours a week (evenings/weekends)

Job Description
Under the direction of the ARCHES Director, operates a bus to transport passengers safely and efficiently to an assigned location using a designated route: performs related duties as required or assigned.
Performance Responsibilities
- Drives a bus along a designated route, picking up and discharging passengers in accordance with prescribed time schedules.
- Observes legal and defensive driving practices: assuring compliance with applicable traffic & passenger transportation laws, codes, and regulation.
- Directs and assists with the loading and unloading of passengers and pedestrian safety.
- Maintains order and discipline among passengers in the vehicle, and while at pick-up & drop off locations, according to established policies and procedures.
- Conducts daily pre-operative safety inspections on an assigned vehicle, inspecting the interior, exterior, braking & electrical systems, engines, and tires. Notifies the Transportation Director or on duty mechanic of any mechanical or safety problems.
- Maintains assigned vehicles in a clean and safe operating condition: sweeping, washing, and cleaning the vehicle, as well as refueling, servicing, and preparing the vehicle for use in transporting passengers.
- Administers first aid to injured/ill passengers as necessary and appropriate.
- Prepares and maintains records & reports regarding mileage, passenger counts, driving times, and fuel consumption. Recommend changes in assigned routes or pick up/ drop off locations.
- Attends and participates in Club/ Transportation Safety and in-service training workshops and meetings.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Safe and defensive driving practices
- Proper operation of passenger bus
- Applicable traffic & transportation laws, codes, and regulations
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove policies relative to member discipline
- Basic first aid procedures
- Interpersonal skills, using tact, patience, and courtesy
- Basic record keeping techniques
Education and Experience:
- Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge & abilities listed above
License & Other Requirements:
- A valid CA Motor Vehicle License, Class B with passenger endorsement as well as a safe driving record
- Possession of a current Red Cross First Aid Certificate
- Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) H6 Print Out with completed application

- Drive vans safely and efficiently (with proper certification)

- Bilingual Spanish or Vietnamese
